How to choose
A word from ten thousand parties: match the equipment to the age, not the birthday number. Under-twos and new walkers do best with the soft play — nothing to fall off, nothing that needs power, and it works on a lounge floor in winter. Two to four year olds love the toddler towers and the mushroom castle, where they can bounce but the walls are low and soft. Not sure what suits your group? Send us the ages and we'll tell you.
Why smaller is better for this age
Parents often want to book the biggest castle for a two-year-old's party, thinking bigger is more fun. It usually isn't. Little ones get overwhelmed on a big castle, and once the older cousins pile on, the toddlers end up on the edge or in tears. A setup that's their own size keeps them in the middle of the fun instead of watching from the side — and keeps you relaxed instead of hovering.
Space and power
-
A flat, shaded spot — indoors or out. Little ones cook fast in the sun, so shade matters more than for the big kids.
-
A plug point and an extension cord for the inflatable castles. The soft play needs no power at all.
Grass is ideal for the castles so we can peg them; the soft play goes on any clean flat floor. Send us a photo of the space and we'll confirm the fit.
Goes well with
Pair it with gentle balloon sculpting, a candyfloss machine, and tables and chairs sized for little ones.
For a mixed-age party, add a full-size jumping castle for the older kids so each group has its own.
Questions parents ask
What ages is this for?
Roughly under-fives. Soft play suits babies and new walkers; the toddler castles suit about two to four.
What are the plastic balls for?
The mushroom castle sits in a ball pond. Balls are R30 a bag — add as many bags as you'd like for a fuller pond.
Can the mushroom be used as a pool?
Yes — in summer the pond fills with water and doubles as a little splash pool.
Does the soft play need electricity?
No — only the inflatable castles need a plug point. Soft play works anywhere, indoors included.
Is it safe for very small children?
Yes — it's all low and soft. An adult should still supervise, as with any play.
How much is delivery?
From R370, by distance from Waverley.
